Carrots you will simply adore

These carrots are easy to cook and are truly delicious. They use three ingredients to bring out the carrots’ flavours. Ingredients that are key to much great cooking: butter, sugar and salt.


  • Carrots (say 6)
  • A teaspoon of butter
  • A teaspoon of sugar (white)
  • A pinch of salt
  • Water


Peel the carrots and chop them into 1cm rounds. Shove them in a pan and add the butter, sugar and salt. Cover with water and bring to the boil and simmer with the lid off until all the water has gone – say 35 minutes. It the last 5 minutes stir them and keep an eye on them. You are aiming to get all the carrot coated with the shiny caramelised sugar and butter coating. But you do not want them to burn or catch.
